Day 36: Friends

Day 36: what you think about your friends

What do I think about my friends? I think they are:
Awesome
Amazing
Loyal
Supportive
Fun (Loads)
Sharing
Considerate and Sympathetic
Quirky (Likes attract)
Fab at partying

Just the BEST!!
Thanks people for being my friends!

Day 62: Best Friends Forever

day 62: describe your best friend completely

I am lucky enough to have a handful of best friends. Touch wood!
I'll describe my oldest friend from school here.
She's Gharwali. So she looks like something straight out of a Barbara Cartland book. Fair, slim, golden brown silky hair. Cheeks that go pink in the sun and when she blushes. Very sensible, down-to-earth and homely. Fairly great cook. She is an ace student and a doctor. Extremely sweet natured and beautiful with a heart of gold.
She likes reading and talking and helping people. She rarely uses makeup. She is one of  those lucky blessed few. She is such a nice person that I sometimes ask her to twirl around and inspect for a halo. Yes, she is that good.
She has a good sense of humor, empathizes with people and is very perceptive.

I am glad she is one of my best friends.

Day 25: Friends are Forever!!!

Day 25: a friend you have lost that you’re better off without/one you wish you had back

I am glad I have all my friends who are awesome 'WOW' inspiring people.

And I simply do not agree that I'm better off without any of my friends. Oh no! Friends are definitely FOREVER.

Day 24: List of My Favourite 10 People

Day 24: your favorite 10 people right now and why

  1. Mom: For more details, read this one and and this.
  2. AR: My twin sister. We call her SunshineGirl because it aptly symbolizes her cheerful personality. As to why she is my favorite person, one reason- She's Awesome!
  3. Daddy Dearest: For being the anchor in my life. How can you not love a person who daily professes, "I Love You Baby. If you have any problems, just give me a whistle."
  4. Hubby: My own TDH hunk is just adorable. For special moments that make him sweeter, read here and again.
  5. Dimma: Babushkas cannot get nicer and cooler than this.
  6. Thatha: For being the best grandpa in the world. I love your smile, your tennis prowess and your trademark Old Spice scent.
  7. Amma & Appa- Best parents-in-law ever.
  8. Mama: Is it any wonder that uncles are Double mummy when loosely translated in Hindi?
  9. Mami: 'coz you twice as nice as Mama
  10. BFF: you gals and guys rock!

Day 5- Change the World

Day 5: something you would change about the world

I'd like to change the way people see others.
We are so intrinsically wired to view people on superficial criteria the minute we see them and form rock-solid opinions about them. Looks, attitude, status, height, body shape- is that what defines a person? Worse, is that how I define a person and how people define me? That's quite awful.
Take me for example. I'm of average height, not in too good a shape, I do not wear brands (nor can I afford them), and am  philosophical and artistic (that is what I think of myself as). But do others see me as plain, fat, dowdy, spaced out and nerdy? Yikes!

I recently read about a different way to approach people. To judge them not for physical attributes but to regard them as potential friend material. At first it sounds silly, but then realization dawned. It's actually a great idea. I tried it and found it quite uplifting. This notion helps me try to draw the other person into a conversation, discuss hobbies and interests, share stories and best, give me a calmer and more positive mood.

I am not saying it is easy but it is fun and it earns me a good image if not great friends. Also, I actually am avoiding forming snappy and catty opinions about others and instead focussing on the virtues of a person. Now isn't that lovely?
