Day 153: It's only the first step that is hard!

day 153: do you think the hardest thing is sometimes the easiest thing

The first step. Whether jumping off the ziplining board or the first heave in a kayak or the first word in a fresh post. It's the first step that is the most difficult but also the easiest. All it requires is the resolve, the mind. Or more appropriately, the mindless plunge. Begin and everything is easy.

Like today- I saw that I have posted about three months back. I remembered staring countless times in this period and thinking I need to post.  But each time, all those missed posts mocked me. The numerous unsuccessful attempts to write daily floated before mind. And depressed, I'd switch over to something else in a blank. But not today.

The title itself gives me courage. As soon I pasted the topic of the, all the words seem to just ooze out. And lo and behod, here is today's post. % minutes tops, and I am done. :)

So, yes, sometimes the hardest thing is the easiest.
As ever, Happy Writing!

Day 50: Why this challenge

day 50: why you are doing this challenge

I am doing this challenge:
To make sense of my many thoughts
To have the satisfaction of completing a task
To keep writing everyday on this blog and thus, get the thrill of having consistently slogged at a task
To hone my writing skills
Because I am opinionated
Because I believe that I can speak just about anything

Day 18: Top Reasons Why I blog and Am Still at it!

Day 18: why you made your blog, why you still have it
The reasons for blogging are listed in Day 3 of this series. But my top reasons for continuing to blog are as below:
  1. Blogging is fun.
  2. Writing a post every single day takes patience and teaches consistency and the importance of persevering.
  3. It keeps me result-driven. One post needs to get published every day. I usually find that I lapse during weekends; since those two days fly away with Hubs and all our outings and shopping and Skype chats with our large family back home. However, my challenge dictates that I post an article EVERY day. So, I just write my posts beforehand and then press the publish button on the weekends. It's not exactly cheating according to me. I like to call it 'Delivering what you Promise'. It's a lesson from my days as an engineer in a corporate firm. Nobody cares how you deliver so long as you DO. (Subject to the means being legal and civil.) I used to adopt this technique to flee early and get home sooner on Fridays. I  needed the precious hour since I travelled on Friday- so, I'd work extra on Thursday to keep my work up to date. I always delivered, so nobody cared a hoot.
  4. It's free. That alone is an awesome reason to use it to the fullest.
  5. I like playing around with the themes, widgets and am looking at web designing aspects as well. So, I get to indulge in my creative and technical streaks.
  6. My typing has improved loads due to blogging.
  7. A lot of the questions are introspective and help me discover more about myself. Self-improvement and introspection has never been so enjoyable.
  8. I'm a housewife and blogging is a great way to keep boredom at bay while Hubbyji works for our living.
  9. Blogging makes me think.
  10. I actually have made friends and learnt so much about people I would have never known were it not for Blogger. This kind of platform opens up new vistas of learning that are enlightening as much as they pleasing.

Day 3- To blog Or Not to Blog

Day 3: what you think your reason for being here is:

The reason for my existence. Well, I'm still figuring that out.
But my reason to blog? Here's why:

  1. I like to write.
  2. Being opinionated and sarcastic are my endearing traits which this medium allows me to be.
  3. Blogger is a marvellous outlet for my frank expressions.
  4. I like doodling on the Internet figuring out stuff and Blogger's features are my current craze.
  5. I need to be a blogger to comment on other people's opinions and thoughts.
  6. Typically a nosey young woman, I like reading random thoughts and perspectives.
  7. Improving my language is a lifelong habit. And nothing facilitates this like writing.
  8. I have loads of time to kill and a surprising lack of willing audiences.
  9. I am open to the idea of making money online. (I wish that would happen- SOON)
  10. Blogging is a great way for me to chronicle my various attempts at improving myself, sticking to my lofty and not-so-lofty resolutions.

Return of the 365 Day Challenge- I'm Back

I am resuming the 365 Day Challenge! Yippee!!

I was feeling quite low about not having stuck to the 365 Day challenge. But I was idly googling 365 Day Challenge again when I noticed a list with 365 topics to write on. And I thought, this is a Leap Year. Should not there be 366 of these? I may have not been able to write continuously for a month but that did not deter me from being critical of others.
And it was then that I realized that the challenge is sticking on for a whole year irrespective of when you begin. So, here's to a great start. Do check out this challenge, it is fun.

365 Day Challenge on Tumblr

And since this IS a Leap Year, today is the introductory piece of my 366 Day Challenge with tomorrow's post as Day1 and so on.
Yes, I really do not change or stop procrastinating, do I? :)
Happy Blogging!

Envious!

En-vi-ous!
Quite catchy a title for my first blog experience? I came up with this in the first few nanoseconds  when asked for a title.
Aha! And what line of thinking prompted this expression of my much-touted vocabulary? Hmmm...
I can't deny that the title does not epitomise my very much base human tendencies, or even my commonplace and trite thinking. But truth is, that the word is actually a homophone of my initials- NVS: V being Daddy darling's initial and S being hubby dear's. It's that mundane. And no, I really do not conform to the coveting mean image which the heading evokes.
I just wanted to begin voicing my thoughts and observations and this title seemed to be just the thing to get started. In fact, I can already see the draft of the next post that outlines just who NVS personifies. Inspiration strikes - and all from a name. Awesome.
So long then, until the next post.
Cheers,
NVS
